INDIVIDUAL STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

FOR THE P S. COCKROFT TROPHY

 

Venue: Halifax Golf Club

Date: Sunday 6th July 2008

          1.       Entries are invited for the above competition from Playing Members with a playing handicap of 10 or below on the day of entry. If more than 81 entries are received, a ballot will be held to decide which of the higher handicap entries can be accepted

2.       Competition format – Stroke play over 36 holes

3.       Entry Fee £20 – The entry fee must accompany your entry. Cheques to be made payable to the Halifax, Huddersfield & District Union of Golf Clubs (Please do not make them payable to the undersigned).

4.       The player who returns the lowest gross score will be the ‘Stroke Play Champion’ and hold the P. S. Cockroft trophy for a year.

5.       The junior player (aged under 18 on 1st January, 2008) who returns the lowest gross score will hold the Jubilee Trophy for a year.

6.       Vouchers will be given for the three lowest gross scores over 36 holes, the lowest gross score over the first 18 holes, the lowest gross score over the second 18 holes and the lowest gross score over 36 holes by a junior player.

Individual Match Play Championship

7.       The 32 players who return the leading gross scores will qualify for the Match Play Championship to be played [on a match play basis] off scratch over 18 holes with the exception of the final which will be played over 36 holes.

8.       The 1st and 2nd rounds will be played at West End (Halifax) Golf Club on Sunday 10th August 2007 and the quarter finals and semi-finals will be played at Halifax Golf Club on Sunday, 24th August, 2008 with final also at Halifax Golf Club on Sunday 31st August 2008

9.       The Champion will hold the Championship Trophy for a year and will receive an inscribed memento.

10.  Vouchers will be given to the Champion, runner-up and to the two losing semi-finalists.

Closing date for entries Monday 16th June 2008.

The starting sheet will be sent to clubs during the following week.

Competitors are respectfully reminded to comply with the host clubs dress code. Prize-winners are expected to wear a jacket and tie for the presentation. The presentation will take place immediately after the competition in the clubhouse.

Prizes may be withheld from individuals who do not attend (or send a representative to) the presentation

Junior Stroke Play Championship

For the Lightcliffe Tankard &

Qualification for the Match play Championship

 Venue          West End (Halifax) Golf Club

 Date            Sunday 20th July 2008

 Entries are invited for the above competition from juniors with a playing handicap of 20 or below and aged under 18 on the 1st January 2008.

If necessary there will be a ballot of the higher handicaps to achieve the desired limit of 81 competitors.

 Competition format – The Championship will be decided by stroke play, from scratch, over 18 holes.

Stroke play

1.        Entry Fee £7 – The entry fee must accompany the application for entry. Cheques to be made payable to the Halifax, Huddersfield & District Union of Golf Clubs (Please do not make them payable to the undersigned). You may be able to enter by appending your name to the block entry sheet at your club.

2.      The Champion (best gross score) will receive the Lightcliffe Tankard for a year and a voucher.                                                 

3.      The competitor with the best net score will receive the Lightcliffe Trophy for a year and a voucher.                                          

4.      Vouchers will also be awarded to the second best gross and the second best net  scores.

5.      The competitors with the best 8 gross scores will go forward to the Junior Match Play Championship.

JUNIOR MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

1.  The top 8 competitors will compete on a match play basis over 18 holes.

2.    The 1st Round and the Semi Final will be played at Longley ParkGolf Club on Sunday 27nd July 2008.

3.    The final will be played over 36 holes on a date to be arranged.

3.  The Champion of the Junior Match play will receive the Junior Match play Salver for a year and a voucher.

4.  Vouchers will be awarded to the runner-up and the two loosing semi-finalists.

 

 Closing date for entries Monday 30th June 2008.The starting sheet will be sent to clubs during the following week.

Competition format – The Championship will be decided by stroke play over 18 holes.

  Competition format – 18 holes Four-Ball Stroke play off ¾ handicap.

 1.      Handicap limit 20. Players with a higher handicap may enter but must play off 20.

2.      Each club may enter maximum of three teams.

3.      Vouchers will be awarded to the first four best net scores.

   Competitors are respectfully reminded to comply with the host clubs dress code. Prizewinners are expected to wear a jacket and tie when receiving their prize. The presentation will take place immediately after the competition in the clubhouse.

Prizes will be withheld from teams or individuals who do not attend (or send a representative to) the presentation.

  The presentation will take place immediately after the competition at approximately 17:45 to 18:00


HANDICAP TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

FOR THE JACK SYKES TROPHY

 

 

 

Each Member Club may enter one team of four players.

 

Competition format: 18 holes strokeplay off scratch.

 

Handicap limits are those as set out under Rule 12 of the Handicap League Rules.

 

The playing handicap on the day of the competition will determine the eligibility to play.

 

The team with the lowest gross aggregate score will receive The Jack Sykes Trophy for a year and vouchers.

 

Vouchers will also be awarded to the second placed teams and the competitor with the best individual net score.


THE SCRATCH TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

FOR THE FOUNDERS TROPHY

 

 

 

Each Member Club may enter one team of four players.

 

Teams will be divided into two divisions in accordance with the following rules.

 

The clubs eligible to play in the Championship (the First Division) will be the top 12 teams from the previous year's Scratch Team Championship plus the top four teams from the current year's Second Division Championship.

 

The clubs occupying the last three positions in the Championship (the First Division) will play in the Second Division of the following year.

 

FIRST DIVISION

The Championship will be decided by strokeplay from scratch over 36 holes.

 

The team with the lowest aggregate score will receive The Founders Trophy for a year and vouchers.

 

Vouchers will also be awarded to the second placed team and the competitors with the best individual gross score over 36 holes, first 18 holes and the second 18 holes respectively.

 

The following teams qualify in the year 2001 for the First Division: Bradley Park, Castlefields, Crosland Heath, Halifax Bradley Hall, Hebden Bridge (Mount Skip), Huddersfield, Longley Park, Marsden, West End (Halifax), Willow Valley and Woodsome Hall.

 

SECOND DIVISION

The teams to form the Second Division will be all those who do not qualify for the First Division.

 

The Competition format will be strokeplay from scratch over 18 holes.

 

The top three teams will be promoted to the First Division.

 

The team with the lowest aggregate score will! be awarded the Second Division Scratch Team Trophy and vouchers.

 

Vouchers will also be awarded to the second placed team and the competitor with the best score.

 

The following teams are eligible in the year 2001 for the Second Division: Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury District, Elland, Halifax, Hanging Heaton, Lightcliffe, Meltham, Outlane, Queensbury, Ryburn, Saddleworth and Todmorden.


JUNIOR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Each Member Club may enter one team of four players who must all be aged 18 or below on 1st January in the year of the competition.

 

Handicaps: Three players must have a playing handicap of 20 or below; one player may have a playing handicap of 28 or below.

 

Competition format: 18 hole strokeplay - Three lowest gross scores to count

 

The team with the lowest aggregate gross score (three scores to count) will be awarded the Junior Team Championship and vouchers.

 

The team with the lowest aggregate net score (three scores to count) will we awarded the D Gordon Trophy for a year.

 

Vouchers will also be awarded to the individuals with the best gross and net scores.

INTERCLUB FOURSOMES

The following conditions apply to all interclub foursomes competitions. All matches will be played on a neutral course with the exception of the final which will be played on a nominated course.  Matched are to be played on the data specified on the official fixture list.

 

The draw for each round will be made by the Executive Committee and tees will be reserved for a specified period on the relevant date and matches may commence at any time within that period.

 

With the exception of the final all matches will commence between 5:30pm and 6:15pm.  If the representatives of only one club are present within the prescribed times the match will be awarded to them.  If the representatives of both clubs are absent they shall both be eliminated.

 

If it is not possible for the host club to house the matches on the fixed date or if the matches are postponed due to the state of the course or to the weather on the day of the fixture the matches must be played within the next seven days on a day mutually agreed between the teams.

 

The competition is a club competition and if any selected player is unable to play on the particular date his club must provide a replacement.

 

A player is not eligible to play for two clubs during the tournament and if a club enters two teams a player having played in the first team cannot subsequently play in the second team, or vice versa.

 

In the event of a match being all square after 18 holes (36 holes in the final) the match shall continue until one side or other wins a hole. Once extra holes have commenced and insufficient light or adverse conditions prevent the match being played to a result, the match must be played again on a mutually agreed date at the same venue.

 

Results should be sent to the Foursomes Secretary by the winning couple within 48 hours of the match. IF NO RESULT IS REPORTED WITHIN 48 HOURS BOTH TEAMS WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE COMPETITION.

 

THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

 

In the event of any disagreement the decision of the Executive Committee will be final.

 

SCRATCH

 

Each Member Club may enter one team - maximum entry 32 teams - the balance being made up based on results of the previous year's Scratch League.

 

Competition.

Format: Matchplay over 18 holes with the final being played over 36 holes.

 

The winners will be awarded the HUDDERSFIELD EXAMINER SHIELD and vouchers. Vouchers will also be awarded to the runners-up.

 

JUNIOR

Each Member Club may enter two teams balloted to a maximum of 32 teams. Each club is guaranteed one team.

Competition Format:- Matchplay over 18 holes off scratch with the final being played over 36 holes.

 

Players must be aged 18 or below on 1st January in the year of the competition.

 

The winners will be awarded the HUDDERSFIELD EXAMINER TROPHY and vouchers. Vouchers will also be awarded to the runners-up.

HANDICAP

 

Each Member Club may enter two teams - maximum entry 32 teams - the balance being made up based on results of the previous year's Handicap League.

 

Competition Format: Matchplay over 18 holes with stroke allowance of three eighths of the difference between the combined handicaps with the final being played over 36 holes.

 

The Playing handicap limit will be 8 to 15 inclusive. A player's handicap on the date of the match will determine his eligibility to play in the competition.

 

In the event of a player reducing his handicap during the period of the competition he must play off his new handicap in subsequent rounds. If a player's handicap is reduced below 8 or increased above 15 he will be no longer eligible to play and his club must replace him with another player.

 

The winners will be awarded the HUDDERSFIELD EXAMINER ROSE BOWL and vouchers.

 

Vouchers will also be awarded to the runners-up.


NINE HOLE CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIP

 

 

Competition Format - Stroke play over 18 holes

Each Member Club whose course has nine or fewer holes may enter a team of three players with a playing handicap of 20 or below

The team that returns the lowest aggregate net score will hold the ‘Nine Hole

Championship Shield’ for a year

The player who returns the lowest net score will receive a silver salver to hold

for a year.

Vouchers will be given to each member of the teams that return the two lowestaggregate net scores, the player who returns the lowest individual gross scoreand the player who returns the lowest net score.
