RULES
AND REGULATIONS FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS,
All
championships, competitions and matches shall be played in accordance with the
Rules of Golf as approved by R & A Rules Limited, the Constitution, Rules
and Regulations of the
Entries
to competitions shall be made on the official entry form accompanied by the
appropriate entry fee.
Prizes
or trophies may be withheld from clubs or individuals who do not attend the
prize presentation and do not send a representative to accept the prize or
trophy on their behalf.
The
starting time shall be the time shown on the official draw or such later time
that the player’s name is called by the starter.
Playing
Members are entitled to enter all competitions unless stated otherwise in the
entry conditions. Senior Members are only entitled to enter the Seniors’
Championship and the mid-week four-ball competitions. The definition of Playing
Members and Senior Members is set out in Rule 5 of the Constitution.
Unless
otherwise provided in the conditions of a particular competition, all ties shall
be decided by reference to the last 18,9,6,3 or 1 holes in that order. If a tie
still arises it shall be decided by
reference to the last 6, 3 or 1 holes in the first nine holes of that round. If
a tie still arises in competitions played over more than one round each of the
preceding rounds played shall be
treated in the same way (taking each round in reverse order to that in which
they were played) until a decision is reached. If a tie still arises the players
with the same scores shall be declared joint winners.
Entry
to junior events is limited to players who are aged under 18 on 1st
January in the year of the competition. Players in junior events are prohibited
from having a caddie during the stipulated round. The penalty for breach of this
condition is set out in paragraph 3 of Part C of Appendix 1 to the Rules of
Golf.
No
competitor may receive more than one individual prize in any competition.
Ride
on Buggies
The
use of ride on buggies is generally prohibited. Players should walk at all times
unless, following application in writing to the Competition Secretary,
permission has been granted to use a ride on buggy. Such permission will only be
given in exceptional circumstances.
An
application to use a ride on buggy by a person who is disabled within the
meaning of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 must be made by the player
himself and be supported by a
medical
certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner certifying that the
player is a disabled person within the meaning of the Act and that he is unable
to play golf without the use of a ride on buggy.
The
application must also be accompanied by an appropriate insurance certificate
covering the player and his use of the buggy.
All
applications will be subject to the rules of the Host Club, course conditions
and any health and safety restrictions.
The Executive Committee reserve the right to:
fix
and alter starting times;
accept
or refuse an entry without giving any reason for such decision;
alter
the format of an event if it becomes necessary to do so in order to achieve a
result; and
deal with any breaches of the rules and regulations by Member Clubs, teams or
individuals in such a manner as they deem appropriate.
Rules
1 to 17 apply to the Scratch and Handicap Leagues and Rules 1 to 11 together
with Rules 18 to 24 apply to the Junior Leagues.
Each
member club shall be entitled to enter one team.
All
matches shall be played from the white markers as laid out on the day.
Each
team will play home and away matches as set
out in the fixture list.
Team
Captains must list their teams in order of handicaps and the lists should be
exchanged and pairings for the games taken accordingly. Penalty for non
compliance – game points given to the opposing player.
For
the purposes of this rule each league is a separate event and players are not
entitled to represent more than one club in the same event in a season.
The
Home Team Captain is responsible for informing the League Secretary of the
result.
Points
will be given for each game in a match – 2 for a win, 1 for a halved game.
All
games must start between
The
League Secretary MUST be informed of any dispute within 24 hours of the match
taking place.
If
the host club cannot house the match on the date set out in the fixture list or
the match is postponed due to the state of the course or the weather on the
night of the fixture it MUST be played WITHIN 6 DAYS on a mutually agreeable
date, or failing agreement on the sixth day following the original date on which
the match should have been played. The League Secretary must be informed of any
postponements. Any infringement of this rule may render the match null and void.
Rearranged
matches must not take place prior to the date set out in the fixture list.
Senior
Members, as defined in Rule 5 of the Constitution are not entitled to play in
league matches.
Each
team shall consist of four players and there will be five divisions. Teams in
the Handicap League shall be made up of one player of not less than 8 handicap;
one player of not less than 10 handicap; one player of not less than 12
handicap; and one player of not less than 14 handicap.
Matches
will take place on Thursdays (matches at Ryburn and Todmorden on Wednesdays;
All
matches will be played off scratch and at the end of the season, promotion and
relegation from each division will be one up/one down. The winners of each
division will receive the Divisional Shield.
In
the event of a tie for either promotion or relegation, the teams involved will
play off for their final placing over a neutral course selected by the
Executive. If the teams are still tied, the Team Captains must list three
members of their team in order of handicap who shall compete in ‘sudden
death’ play offs immediately following the conclusion of the last game.
Pairings for the play offs will be in handicap sequence. The winning team will
be the team that wins the majority of the ‘sudden death’ play offs.
Rules 1, 9 and 10(d) in the Rules and Regulations for Championships, Competitions and Matches set out above are deemed to be included in these rules
Each
team shall consist of three players and be divided into four geographical
divisions
All
matches will be played off handicap over 18 holes. The stroke allowance to the
higher handicap golfer will be ¾ of the difference between the two players’
handicaps.
The
handicap limit is 24 and higher handicaps will be reduced to this limit.
Matches
shall take place on Fridays with games starting between the times as prescribed
in Rule 8 or such other times as shall be agreed between the two junior
representatives.
Should two or more teams have the same number of match points (calculated in accordance with Rule 7) the final placings will be decided on the greatest number of matches won. If teams are still tied, the final placings will be decided on the individual match margins throughout the season.
The four leading teams in each division will compete in a knockout competition to determine the overall winner who will receive the "Championship Shield". Quarter final matches will be determined on the basis of league positions and a draw will be made to determine the semi-final matches. In the event of a halved match in the knockout competition, the winner will be decided by a "sudden death" play off in which each team will be represented by their lowest handicap player.
Rules
1, 7, 9 and 10(d) in the Rules and
Regulations for Championships, Competitions and Matches set out above are
deemed to be included in these rules
The
following Rules apply to all three sections of the match play competitions.
Matches will be played in accordance with the
draws that are published in March each year.
With the exception of the finals, matches will
be played on neutral courses over 18 holes and commence between
The finals will be played over 36 holes on a
nominated course as set out in the fixture list and commence at 10.am.
If a team is not present and ready to play within the prescribed time the match
will be given to the opposing team.
If neither team is present and ready to play
within the prescribed time, they will both be eliminated.
If it is not possible for the host club to
house a match on the date set out in the fixture list or if a match is postponed
due to the state of the course or the weather it must be played within the next
seven days on a mutually agreeable date.
All matches must be played to a conclusion.
If bad light or adverse weather conditions prevent a match being
completed, it must be replayed on a mutually agreeable date.
Postponed matches and matches to be replayed in
accordance with Rules 6 and 7 must
be played at the same venue as the original fixture or such other venue as
determined by the ‘Foursomes Secretary’
For the purposes of this rule each of the three
foursomes competitions is a separate event and players are not entitled to
represent more than one team in the same event in a season.
The winners must report the results to the
‘Foursomes Secretary’ no later than
The Foursomes Secretary must also be informed
of any matches which are postponed in accordance with Rule 6 or any matches
which are to be replayed in accordance with Rule 7 no later than 10.00pm on the
second day after the match was originally due to be played.
IF THE RESULT OF A MATCH, A POSTPONEMENT OR A
REPLAY IS NOT REPORTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ABOVE RULES, BOTH TEAMS WILL BE
ELIMINATED. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED
